Dinner Host — Part-Time, Flexible
A Little Cooking. A Lot of Connection.

Role Description Title
Some people just have a gift for making others feel at home. They love cooking, sharing stories, and turning an ordinary meal into something memorable.
At Stay for Dinner, we're looking for those people.
Our Dinner Hosts visit older adults in their homes, prepare delicious meals, sit down to share them, and stay awhile. Sometimes that means conversation over coffee. Other times, a game of cards or simply enjoying each other's company.
You don't need to be a professional chef. We're looking for confident home cooks with warm personalities, great conversation skills, and a genuine love of people.
This is a flexible, paid opportunity to do something you enjoy while making a meaningful difference in someone's day.
Responsibilities
-
Shop for fresh ingredients based on planned menus and dietary preferences.
-
Prepare delicious, home-cooked meals in our guests' kitchens.
-
Invite guests to participate in cooking as much or as little as they'd like.
-
Sit down, share dinner, and enjoy genuine conversation.
-
Spend time connecting through stories, games, or other shared interests.
-
Leave the kitchen clean and tidy, with leftovers properly stored.
-
Share a brief update with the family following each visit, including photos when permitted.
-
Create a welcoming, comfortable, and respectful experience from beginning to end.
Requirements
-
A genuine love of cooking and confidence preparing a variety of home-style meals.
-
A warm, outgoing personality and the ability to connect naturally with older adults.
-
Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
-
Dependability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
-
Ability to accommodate dietary preferences and follow food-safety practices.
-
Reliable transportation for grocery shopping and traveling to guests' homes.
-
Ability to pass a background check and provide professional or personal references.
-
Availability for flexible, part-time assignments, including some evenings or weekends.
Previous culinary or hospitality experience is a plus, but not required. The right personality and a genuine passion for people matter just as much.
